Fashion Friday : Color For Your Nails

Your Gay Husband Tip of the Day :
Color is not Gender Specific
1970's Christian Dior Nail Color Ad
Color For Your Nails
There seems to be a trend happening today that is stirring up healthy conversation. Nail polish.
As you walk thru the cosmetic area of any luxury store, each brand has joined forces in offering nail polish within their product offerings. This is nothing new to the cosmetic world, the add shown above is a Christian Dior ad from the 1970”s. As you can see the use of color was a trend of self expression.

J Crew Nail Polish ad

The trend continues today, however the conversation of men wearing nail polish is a conversation now talked about in confidence. Recently in the news a controversial ad from JCrew has brought additional interest in this non issue. The sad part of this controversy is the blindness to the reality of the captured moment, a mother enjoying a special moment with her son.

John Stewart had made a good comment about it on his show recently, “Its Pink nail polish not a “I love cock” tattoo.”Again we are talking about a snapshot of a mother and son playing: the quintessential American story, not some insidious revolting image” said John Stewart. His statement so bold and so true has made headlines all over the news.

Justin Bieber Nails

Biebers Nail Polish

Talking about all over the news…Have you heard that Justin Bieber has a collection of nail polishes. It is said that the singer has partnered with Nicole by OPI to design a collection of nail polishes inspired by all his hit songs. The picture shows the variety of color offerings, masculine and feminine for both men and women.
"The Iceman" Chuck Lidell
And if that ain't tough enough…On John Stewarts show the other night during the same conversation about the JCrew ad, he reminded us all that Chuck Liddell, The Ultimate Fighter, is a retired American mixed martial artist and former Ultimate Fighting Light Heavyweight champion, also known as "The Iceman" and his masculine stature, is also known for wearing nail polish. I dare you to confront that…

Putting all the controversy aside, nail polish, is a trend both of the past and current. This spring the color options are out there. Match it up, be expressive, your nails deserve the attention.
Let it Shine !

Easter Egg Yard Art

Your Gay Husband Tip of the Day :
Decorate your Lawn for Easter
Eggcellent way to Decorate Your Yard
Easter Egg Yard Art
I love this time of year and especially Easter. It is just another great reason for friends and families to reconnect not to mention all the colorful decorations and great food. This is such an easy project and a great one to do with your kids. They can paint their own Easter Egg and save it for years to come. Memories of Easter in your childhood are so important so might as well make it memorable. You can even sign and date them.
COST - $3 I had the paint.
TIME - less than 1h hour [not including dry time]
Level of Difficulty - 2 easy put lots of parts
Egg Template
The first thing I did was to go online and print an Egg Template. Cut out the sizes you desire. I used 3 sizes. I find it gives more of a visual impact using a variety of sizes. Outline Egg on to a piece of foam core board. I buy mine at the Dollar Tree. Just $1 for a 20" by 30" foam board which is a great size. You can get at least 3 dozen egg cut outs using only 1 board. Then just cut out your outlined eggs.

Glue Skewers
Once you have your egg cut out, glue 2 skewers to the back side of each egg and let dry. You can buy these skewers at any grocery store under $3 for 100. I bought mine at the Dollar Tree for only $1. I also bought my Elmer's Glue there. That's why only $3 for this project. The skewers will easily secure the Eggs into your lawn.

Acrylic Paints
When it comes to color for this project get as creative as you want. Make them all the same color for a theme or see who can be the most creative or paint polka-dots on them. What ever you want and what ever you can think of.

Zig Zag Pattern
Have FUN being creative. I always have acrylic paints but really you can use any paint you want to. I have used house paint before or mix media like buttons or add some bling with rhinestones.

Finished Eggs
When making a design or pattern I recommend using a sharpy pen to draw on the design then paint inside the lines. It really gives it a strong look once they are in your yard.

This was a FUN project. I hope you have as much fun as I did. If you have 1 hour and $3 you have to make these eggs. Your neighbors will thank you.

Happy Easter !

Spring Spruce Up for Your Dogs

Your Gay Husband Tip of the Day :
Prevention is the BEST Medicine
Leap into SPRING
Spring Spruce Up for Your Dogs
I don't know about your dogs but mine definitely know it is Spring. They are ready every minute of everyday for their walk. All they want to do is Run and Play and Run and Play some more. This is where I come in. They need to be protected from the elements such as ticks and fleas and stuff.

Clean Gog
The first and easiest thing to do is to wash your dog with a good shampoo. I use Pantene moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.Pantene Pro-V 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner, Classic Care, Packaging May Vary, 25.4-Ounce (Pack of 2).  I know it is for people but it smells so good and is very moisturizing. Good Results.

Hartz makes some really good products.
If you need to use flea and tick shampoo
just go to Petco or visit them on line. You can also try 1-800-PETMEDS.

Frontline is the product of choice for our dogs. We live near a lake and every critter imaginable around. I am very pleased to say they never get fleas. Thank you Frontline.

Ready to PLAY

Did Someone Say BALL

We have been fortunate enough to foster dogs in the past. Whether they are your dogs or if you are a  Foster parent, till they find a permanent home they need to exercise EVERYDAY. They need at least 30 minutes of continuous play. When you provide this time for your dogs you will see them be calm and relaxed which is good for their mental health as well. I should live so well.
Happy Dogs Taking a Nap

Talk about a moment in time... I aways feel like good parent when I see my dogs kicking back and relaxing from being active rather just being bored. Spring is that perfect time to get back on track and enjoy the great weather with your dogs on their DAILY walk. They will thank you for it and you might just be amazed as to what it does for you.
Happy Walking,

Savory Sunday Breakfast

Your Gay Husband Tip of the Day :
Treat Yourself to a Lazy Sunday Morning

Chicken Apple Sausage, Fresh Fruit, Home Fries and an Egg w/ Toast
Savory Sunday Breakfast
When I was growing up my Dad made the majority of our Sunday Breakfast. It was what I looked forward to during church. As good of a cook as my Mom is, she just wasn't the best with eggs of any kind. She had this amazing way of cooking them to death so needless to say when Dad was cooking Breakfast it was an event. He let us help and get involved. This is when I learned a rich variety of swear words. My Dad was good with that too.

Home Fries w/ Apple Chicken Sausage
I ended up cooking the potatoes and chicken sausage in the same pan. They took the same amount of time to cook thoroughly. I added 1Tbls oil to the pan on medium heat, add the potatoes and seasoned them with salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste. Put a loose cover on them and cook.

This was a meal for the 2 of us. I only used 2 eggs, 1 Grapefruit, 1 Large russet potato, 2 Strawberries, 2 pieces of Toast and 1 Chicken apple sausage cut in 2. It would be super easy to make this for 10 people as well. Don't forget the coffee... we had 2 double Lattes.
Scrabbled Eggs, Hash browns, Bacon with Bagel and OJ
I love pancakes and waffles just as much as the rest of you but I can literally wake up our of a dead sleep by the smell of BACON. It is the only food I can eat the second I wake up. This is why I don't eat it all of the time. When I do eat bacon I really like the thick sliced. For this breakfast for 2 I used 4 eggs, 6 pieces of thick sliced Bacon, 2 large Potatoes, 2 Bagels with cream cheese and OJ. Pretty easy and very satisfying.

A good Bloody Mary is perfect with a savory breakfast. Here is a good recipe and mix.

Use Mr & Mrs T 32 oz. Bold & Spicy Bloody Mary Mix with your favorite bloody Mary recipe and hold on to your hat! This zesty mix combines plump, ripe tomatoes with a blend of black pepper, garlic and onion for a taste with real kick! Sold in a 32 oz plastic bottle.

When mixed according to the instructions (4 parts mix to 1 part spirit of your choice, poured over ice), each bottle will yield approximately 8 drinks.

There really is no better excuse to spend time together as a family or friends than to enjoy a late breakfast and fantastic company. Show up in your PJ's if that is what it take.
I hope you enjoy your break fast as much as we did. Dig In !
