Grocery Bargains



After searching through this weeks bargains I noticed that there are alot of "promotional items" out there because the Super Bowl is coming. Some of the promotions are great deals and other just have really good advertising.

Always check Unit price when buying in bulk. Just because it is sold in bulk does not necessarily mean a better price.

Albertsons - they are having a meat a MEAT and SEAFOOD promotion

Fresh Salmon portions - $3.99ea [great for freezing and portion control]

Sirloin steaks - $3.99lb

Loin Pork chops - Buy 1 Get 1 free

Lean Ground Turkey 10-1.2lb packs for $10 [freeze]

Boneless skinless chicken breast $1.69lb

Albertsons brand soups - 3 for $1 good for chicken noodle, cream of mushroom, tomato, cream of chicken. [great items to stock up during cold weather]

Allens frozen veggies - $1ea

Quaker Brand items like cereal, pancake mix, syrup etc...5 for $10 BONUS free Tropicana Orange Juice 59oz when you buy 5 Quaker Brand items.

They are also having a $1 promotion and several buy 1 get 1 items. Remember to check unit prices. There are some good deals but mostly good advertising.

Tom Thumb They are having a 4 day sale...not so great...but good advertising.

London Broil - $1.99lb

Pork Shoulder Blade Roast - .99lb [they are BIG. Buy one and cut it into smaller roast sizes to freeze.] The butcher should do this at not additional charge.

Navel Oranges - .69 lb [what could be healthier than a dose of vitamin C during cold season]

Fresh Express premade salads - .99ea

Kellogs cereal - 5 for $10

Catfish fillets - $3.99lb

Ribeye steaks - $4.99lb [freeze]

Boneless skinless chicken breasts - $1.49lb [freeze]

Pork loin chops - $1.97 thick cut [freeze]

Yali Pears - 2 for $1

Blackberries or Blue Berries - $1.99 6oz pack

Healthy Choice Entrees - $1.79 ea [freeze big time]

Classico Pasta sauce - $1.88 [stock up]

Mahi Mahi fillets - $3.99lb

All lettuce - .99 ea [great deal]

Red Onions - .69lb

Sunflower - I love this place. Great value with fresh produce and more...

Navel Oranges - $.39lb

All Lettuce - .88lb

Avocados - .99ea

Fuji Apples - .88lb

Alaskan Cod - $3.99lb

Red Potatoes and red Onions - 2lbs for $1

Extra large Shrimp - $3.99lb 41/50 count

Kroger - another buy and save event... not so great...good but not great

Lots of 10 for $10 items

sour cream, Campbell soups, Wolf Chili, Duncan Hines Cake mixes, Barilla Pasta etc... you get the point. The advertising on this event is strong but not the savings.

Aldi - when they have a good deal it is really a good deal

Pears - .60lb

Texas Grapefruit - .25lb

Ca. Navel Oranges - .35lb

Apples - .50lb

Gold Pineapple - $1.29ea

Sometimes it is worth the extra trip.

My favorite store this week for the best SAVINGS and variety is....drum roll please.....

Fiesta Market ! Treat yourself to some of their fresh made baked goods while you are there.

Of course, Redding doesn't have any of these stores, but I ALWAYS watch for the bargains in the ads:) If I find a great deal, then I stock up and repackage for my family:) Like at Safeway yesterday, bulk Chicken breasts (with skin and half rib) 97 cents a pound:) I went back and bought five packages:) Love ya Kev:)

  2. Thanks for posting your Great bargain. Tom Thumb is owned by Safeway. I love the .97a pound. My freezer would be filled. Some with marinades and some without..yummmmm
